How to find us

The Max Planck Institutes are situated in the northern part of the town near "Kunsthalle" exhibition hall and the observatory ("Sternwarte"). The campus can be reached via Nordring and Waldhäuser Strasse.

We are located in the brownish building between the newer blue and red buildings, on the 2nd floor.

Travel directions

• by Road: If arriving on the A8 autobahn, exit at "Stuttgart-Degerloch". Follow the indication: "Tübingen / Reutlingen, B27". The Bundestrasse B27 will take you to the outskirts of Tübingen in 30 min. If arriving on the A81 autobahn, exit at "Rottenburg", "Herrenberg", or "Böblingen". From each exit the outskirts of Tübingen can be reached in about 15 min. In Tübingen, follow the signs for "Kunsthalle". From the Kunsthalle (top left corner of the map) follow "Philosophenweg" downhill. Turn right into "Waldhäuser Strasse" and continue downhill. The next junction to the left is "Spemannstrasse". Follow Spemannstrasse uphill until you reach the campus of the Max Planck Institutes.

• by RailBusses and trains in Baden-Württemberg: electronic schedule Travel to Stuttgart Central Station (Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof). Change to a regional train to Tübingen (via Esslingen, Plochingen, Nürtingen and Reutlingen) which takes about an hour. The Max Planck Institutes are 3 km away from the railway station. There are taxis near the main entrance. The central bus station is on "Europaplatz", opposite of the railway station. To reach the campus take the no. 3, 4 or 17 bus leaving from Bussteig E. Get off at the bus stop "Ochsenweide" (no. 3 and 17) or "Corrensstrasse" (no. 4) and walk five minutes to the Institutes.
• by Air: From Stuttgart Airport, a taxi to the campus will take 40 minutes. Alternatively, take the "Airportsprinter" shuttle bus (no. 828) to Tübingen, or the local railway (S-Bahn, no. S2/S3) to Stuttgart Central Station (Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof) and continue as described above (the local railway station and the bus stop are located on the ground floor of the airport terminal).
